Working as a model inCopenhagen.

Updated Oct 3, 2026

Small, well-run and very commercial: Copenhagen Fashion Week twice a year, Scandinavian brands shooting e-commerce all year, short readable statements, and direct work that is common. What changes when you work as a model in Copenhagen — seasons, agencies, money — and what Odette keeps in order from your phone.

In brief

Copenhagen is Scandinavia’s fashion market: Copenhagen Fashion Week in early February and early August, and e-commerce and lookbooks for Scandinavian brands all year. Agencies take about 20%, fees are in Danish kroner and invoices are usually paid at 30 days, often sooner. EU and EEA citizens need no visa, and many models also work direct.

The Copenhagen market.

What gets shot here, how the agencies work, at what rhythm the work arrives.

What gets shot here

Scandinavian ready-to-wear and its e-commerce: Ganni, Stine Goya, Samsøe Samsøe, Rains and the retailers around them. Lookbooks, campaigns with a strong sustainability brief, and steady press around Copenhagen Fashion Week.

The agencies

A handful of licensed agencies, several of them mother agencies for Scandinavian faces placed in Paris, Milan and New York. Statements are short and readable, the commission about 20%, and many models also invoice clients directly.

The rhythm

Two peaks — the weeks before the shows, the second half of January and of July — with castings and fittings, then e-commerce all year. Early summer is quiet and the time for digitals; December closes early.

Money in Copenhagen.

Kroner, a commission around 20%, invoices paid on time and direct work beside the agency: five lines to know before the first Danish job.

Day rate

DKK 4,000–8,000 for e-commerce; campaigns DKK 15,000–60,000 before rights — indicative, September 2026

Image rights

Negotiated separately; Scandinavian brands are precise about media and duration, so read the usage line

Terms

30 days is standard and usually kept; Danish accounts departments pay on the due date

Tax

Taxed in Denmark if you are resident; on a short job as a non-resident, check the double-tax treaty with your accountant first

Direct

Very common: a CVR number (the Danish business ID) if you settle here, your home status otherwise

Commission, terms and dates as of September 2026 — a market moves, and a contract always wins over a page.

Odette in Copenhagen

Three things she does here without being asked.

  1. 01Show castings land two to three weeks before the shows: the second half of January and of July stays visible on your calendar, and your availability link is ready to send.
  2. 02A direct invoice in kroner is drafted with its 30-day due date, and its euro value kept at the booking-day rate for your declaration at home.
  3. 03Every agency statement is read line by line, even a short Danish one, and a rebilled expense with no clause behind it becomes a written question.

Frequently asked

Do I need to speak Danish?

No. Castings, call sheets and contracts are in English, and so are most statements. Your invoice can be in English with the amounts in kroner.

Is Copenhagen worth it outside fashion week?

Yes — the e-commerce volume runs all year and pays on time. Many models work Copenhagen from Berlin or Hamburg for a week a month.

Can I work direct in Copenhagen with an agency in Paris?

Usually, if your Paris exclusivity is limited to France. Check the clause and tell your booker; Copenhagen agencies are used to models with a mother agency elsewhere.
